Mendeley Data is a scientific data platform for holding and publishing datasets. These datasets allow data to be shared alongside papers and, by using a DOI (Digital Object Identifiers), ensure a permanent record for that data. My role as lead designer was to ensure delivery.
Method

The product had an existing set of requirements from Academic institutions. This we supplemented with regular trips to Manchester University to validate ideas and run workshops. We generated additional ideas and concepts. I expanded the design team deliver against the requirements and used an interactive approach to improve the core repository service over time.
Outcome
Elevation
The data repository evolved and become increasingly useful for a specific use.
We resolved multiple user and sales needs.
The strength of the interface means the service is still in use today.
It is integrated with the scientific paper publishing system to provide easier access to data for researchers.
