User Types for Learners

Project

mindfulness

This was research work to feed into a series of new projects, including the Direct to Learner site I was working on. The aim was to provide a clear indication of which tasks were needed for which users to provide clarity for how the experiences tied together.

Method

service_toolbox

I worked closely with the wider team to gain as much knowledge about our users as possible in the short time we had to do this project. I created these user types to focus upon the jobs our users carried out. We started a string of user research sessions to flesh these out while using what we know to craft a new e-commerce experience for Pearson.

Outcome

Elevation

  • The research was going well and we were adding more detail to our user types.

  • The company hit a major financial issue and closed down half of the ongoing projects, including the e-commerce project.

  • I stayed on with Pearson after to help with an existing project related to qualifications.

We created User Types based upon existing research and used these to create a new site information architecture

In order to create the best final experience we also included the needs and tasks for the internal users.

User types allow for key user facts to be stated without the needless embellishment found in Personas.

The user research work was to feed into projects for Higher Education. This shows a mapping of service and audience.

The research was to find out how to unify multiple eCommerce propositions.

We also reviewed the checkout experience for the eCommerce proposition.
