Native App Design
Studio for App
Project
mindfulness
Unify the six different studios ot create printed
products. Different managers had lead to an explosion of different solutions that worked in different ways. They were inconsistent and had different code bases.
Method
service_toolbox
The first step was to work out what the apps had in common and what common approaches could work. I did this with an end to end review and competitor comparison with support.
I sketched solutions, created a function matrix and created high fidelity prototypes for communication testing.
Outcome
Elevation
Rapid prototyping allowed management buy in and testing prior to build.
This work lead to a MVP being released that was designed to represent ideas we would use in other parts of the app studio.
We simplified many parts of the process.
The MVP increased sales for retro prints by over 10%.
These are screens from a high fidelity prototype close to production (take from an old file so some misalignment) As we were selling physic objects a Skeuomorphic interface sat along side standard flat design to separate real objects from interface.
We reviewed and all the flows of the existing experience, identifying where customers were having issues and created a new flow based upon what we learnt.
Flows and sitemaps are vital to the creation of any project and if there is no ‘as is’ flow/map I always create one.

I use paper and whiteboards a lot to quickly work through ideas by myself and with others.
The existing app had been developed by multiple agencies as well as patched by internal needs, leading to a partly broken experience.
